1. How do I trade-in my video games?

Trading-in your video games is easy. Just click here for the steps you need to take to process a trade-in.

2. I don't know the UPC of my game, what should I do?

To find your UPC Code, locate the bar code (this is usually on the back cover of the video game). The numbers under the bars are the UPC Code. Please enter these numbers into the search box and you should be able to locate your game.

If you do cannot find the UPC of your game, please...

  • Enter the title of your game in the Search Box
  • Match the title and the artwork on your game's cover to what is displayed online
  • Click on the applicable game and you will find the UPC/SKU on the game's detail page

3. I have searched by UPC and Game Title and still cannot find my game?

We try to offer the trade-in option for as many games as possible, however, there are instances when Toys “R” Us will not offer this option. If you have searched by both UPC and Game Title and still have not found your game, this would indicate your game is one of the select titles we do not offer a trade-in value.

4. What items are eligible for trade-in?

Currently, we are only accepting video games for trade-in. We do not accept: video game consoles, accessories, PC games, IMPORT games, demo disk games or DVD Movies.

5. Are there any Trade-In Limits?

Yes.

  • You may only trade in three (3) of the same titles within a 1 year period
  • There is a maximum limit of $1000.00 trade value per transaction
  • Trades must be shipped within 10 days to receive quoted trade in value

6. How do you determine Product Eligibility?

Product Eligibility is determined by several factors, but can be best summed up by the following:

  • Complete Game: A complete game must include the working game, original box and artwork.
  • Incomplete Game: An incomplete game must include a working game, but does not need the box or artwork.Incomplete games are accepted online only and not in any Toys”R”Us stores.
  • Unacceptable Game: An unacceptable game is a game that is cracked or damaged and not in working condition.

7. My (guitar, dance pad, drums, whatever accessory) that I bought with my game in a bundle pack doesn't work, can I trade in just the game?

Yes, at this time we are only accepting trade-ins of games. We do not accept accessories at this time. Please note that you will need the UPC of the game for trade-in. If the game does not have a UPC, you can find it by doing the following:

  • Match the title and the artwork on your game's cover to what is displayed online
  • Click on the applicable game and you will find the UPC/SKU on the game's detail page

8. All of my games work but some have small scratches, will this be okay?

Yes, it will be okay, as long as the game is in working order. Please not that there are three distinct categories for trade-ins:

  • Complete Game: A complete game must include the working game, original box and artwork
  • Incomplete Game: An incomplete game must include a working game, but does not need the box or artwork.Incomplete games are accepted online only and not in any Toys”R”Us stores.
  • Unacceptable Game: An unacceptable game is a game that is cracked or damaged and not in working condition

9. I do not have the manual for my game, will I be penalized?

While we prefer that you send the manual with the game, no, you will not be penalized. Please note your game must meet specific criteria in order to receive full credit (please refer to Product Eligibility question for specifics).

10. One of my games is new and un-opened; will I get a higher price since it is new?

No, we do not pay more for new, unopened games. Your game will be priced as a complete game and receive the pricing of other complete games.

11. I don't have a box for my old SNES games, can I still trade them?

Yes, you can still trade-in your old games, even if they do not have a box. Please note that trade-ins without the box will fall into the category of incomplete games and will be priced accordingly.

12. How do I get paid for trade-in items?

You will receive a Toys "R" Us Gift Card with the value of the games on it.

13. Do you pay shipping?

If your trade-in value is more than $10.00, we cover the cost of shipping. If your trade-in value is less than $10.00, you will be responsible for the shipping costs; these costs will be deducted from the total amount of the gift card.

14. How should I package/ship my games?

First, you will need to print out the following:

  • Shipping Label
  • Packing Slip

Both of these are presented to you at the end of the trade-in process.

We recommend that you ship your video games in a padded manila envelope or box. You must include the following in your package:

  • Game (s)
  • Packing List

Please note that you will be responsible for paying shipping in the event that your trade-in value is less than $10.00

15. Where do I ship my games?

You should ship your games to:

16. How long does it take to get my gift card?

Upon receipt of your game(s), it will take approximately 2 to 3 business days to process the game(s) and issue the gift card. The gift card will then be shipped via USPS.

17. What happens if a trade-in is not accepted?

You will receive an email indicating that your trade-in has not been accepted and your games(s) will be returned to you at your expense.

18. Would the trade-in values quotes be the same online and in the store?

We cannot guarantee that the store pricing will be the same as the online pricing. This is mainly due to the time difference from when you price an item online and bring it to the store (or visa versa).

19.How do I check the balance on my Gift Card?

Checking your balance is fast and easy. Simply click here or call the 1-800-TOYSRUS and follow the appropriate prompts.

20.It’s been a while and I haven’t received my Gift Card yet. What should I do?

Typically, you should receive your card within 7 to 10 business days after we’ve received your games, depending on where you live. If you feel you should have received your card already, please submit an email with the specifics of your trade and a guest service team member will research and respond back to you within 24 hours. 21.I lost my Gift Card. What should I do?

Contact 1-800-TOYSRUS immediately to report your card as lost. While we are not responsible for any used portion of the balance, we can take steps to freeze the remaining balance and transfer it to a new card once we’ve secured some necessary information from you.
